First Football Win
There is no better way to start the football season than with the first win at home. Our St. Dominic Crusaders won against Orchard Farm 48 to 7, with touchdowns scored by Tate Cross, Jackson Overton, Matthew Willenbrink and Ryan Schwendeman.
Overton, the only freshman starter on varsity, scored two touchdowns on Friday and helped lead the team to their victory.
“It’s really crazy going from junior football to a big level like varsity. It is an incredible experience, and the Friday night lights are like nothing else. It is more amazing than I could’ve imagined,” Overton said.
Cross, a junior and one of the team captains, played a big role in the game, as he also scored two touchdowns. He is excited to see where this season takes him and his team.
“It was a great way to bounce back from last week’s loss, and I am looking forward to a great season with the team,” Cross said.
Gabe Serri, another one of the junior captains, is beyond excited for this season with the potential he sees in his teammates and how he gets to share the field with some of his best friends.
“I’m looking forward to the rest of our home games because our amazing fans keep this game fun and make it so much more enjoyable for all of us. It’s an honor to be a leader of this team and be able to set an example for Crusaders to come in the future. I feel blessed to have been chosen as a captain. It’s really a great feeling,” Serri said.
This season will be a great one for the players and fans. Don’t miss out: come see the boys play at Cardinal Ritter this Friday at 7:00 p.m.
