Sargent and Ream Return Home
St. Dominic has been a soccer powerhouse for many years, but two special alumni have gone above and beyond, earning their way onto the United States men’s national soccer team.
Josh Sargent and Tim Ream are household names of soccer in St. Louis and around the country. The pair of soccer studs will come home Tuesday night, playing under the lights at Busch Stadium against Uruguay.
Ream graduated from St. Dominic in 2006, leading the Crusaders to the 2004 Missouri Class 2 state title. Sargent attended St. Dominic his freshman year and part of his sophomore year, moving to Florida in about 2016 to join the U.S. residency program and train under USMNT staff.
St. Louis is ecstatic to have both of them back on the pitch, and the same can be said for both of the players.
“I’m very excited. I don’t know if I’ll play or not, obviously, but if I even get the chance to play, I think it’ll be incredible. I can’t imagine a better feeling playing for your country in front of your hometown,” Sargent told @Bundesliga_EN.
Sargent has played in seven national team games as a 19-year-old, working his way up the soccer ladder after tremendous appearances on the Under-17 and Under-20 USMNT rosters. He currently plays as a striker overseas in Germany with SV Werder Bremen.
On the other hand, Ream is the third-most experienced player on the roster for the match on Tuesday, with 35 caps. He is a gifted center back, and he was even named player of the year in the 2017-2018 season for Fulham F.C., his club team in England.
Both Crusader alumni look to top Uruguay at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, whether it be Sargent scoring a goal or Ream saving an opponent’s attempt. Be sure to grab tickets to see these talented stars and support the St. Dominic and St. Louis soccer communities!
