Point, Set, Match!
The girl’s tennis team set the bar high this weekend, winning their first tournament in the Troy Doubles Tournament. With success so early in the season, the girls are hoping to win their conference and district matches, allowing them to be able to move on past sectionals.
Congratulations to Abbi Worster, Emily Bross, Dania Salman, Mary Kate Burchman, Emilie Meyer, McKenna Courtney, Kaylie Meyer and Emily Lieurance who dominated last weekend. The four doubles teams played with new partners and definitely rose to the challenge, with all placing first or second in their respective categories.
“There’s a lot of new members on the team, so I’m excited to get to know them better,” senior McKenna Courtney said.
With the season only beginning, the team knows they have a lot of work ahead of themselves. Practices are filled with forehands, backhands and volleys with their new tennis ball machine. As the season speeds by, the team is working on returning serves and their overall aggression with high hopes and expectations for the upcoming matches.
“I expect my three seniors Dania Salman, Kaylie Meyer and McKenna Courtney to lead this team and leave their legacy that tennis is a great, fun game. We want to keep a successful, winning tradition at St. Dominic by playing year round and being great examples on and off the tennis court for our younger players,” Coach Borst said.
Make sure to come out and cheer on our Lady Crusaders as they dive deeper into their promising season!
