Dashing to Districts
This past Tuesday, the St. Dominic Varsity Track and Field team competed at the AAA Conference meet hosted by Christian High School. Unfortunately, the day consisted of lots of rain, but that did not stop the runners.
The boys finished the meet in 3 overall with a total of 90 points, and the girls came in 6 overall with a total of 64 points. In addition to these great finishes, St. Dominic had 10 athletes receive the All-Conference award at the meet.
The senior athletes who received All-Conference include Jack McCormick in the 100m dash and Tyler Sachs in pole vault.
The junior athletes who joined the seniors on the All-Conference team are Tyler Mersnick in javelin, Anna Fernandez in the 4x800m relay and Jessica Bodmer in the 1600m run, 3200m run and 4x800m relay.
“To me this was the race before Districts, so in my head this was the race I needed to prove to myself that I can qualify at Districts and I did that,” Bodmer said.
The sophomore runners who received the All-Conference award are Emily Marut in the 100m dash and Will Nicholson in the 800m and 1600m run.
“I really wanted to do my best at Conference because it’s such a big meet and I wanted to use it to prepare myself for Districts,” Nicholson said.
Finally, the talented freshmen who received All-Conference are Saige Grassino in the 4x800m relay and Ava Gentry in the 4x800m relay.
Congratulations to these outstanding athletes on their tremendous achievements. Don’t forget to come out and support your fellow Crusaders as they dash at districts on May 11 in Mexico, Missouri!
