Boys’ Tennis Headed to Districts

Spring sports teams are gearing up for postseason, especially the boys’ tennis team. The tennis boys have had a greatly successful season so far with a record of 9-2, and they hope to carry that dominance into districts next week.

Last week, the boys took the conference title 13-1 against Bishop DuBourg, Duchesne, Father Tolton and Lutheran. Individual accomplishments include Josh Miller and Derrick Fesser winning singles, and Nate Heiliglenstein and Tim Blechle dominating doubles.

The team has enjoyed the season together and the bonds they have formed.

“I enjoy tennis as a sport, and it’s a bonus that I get to play it with my friends,” senior Derek Fesser said.

“The team this year is super tight and plays really well together. The camaraderie is very strong and united. We hope to win districts and sectionals and maybe even go further,” junior Ryan Monahan said.

With a conference victory under their belt and the postseason approaching, the tennis boys are gearing up for their next obstacle: districts. There are two rounds of districts—doubles and individual districts. Doubles districts begin Monday, May 6 and go through Wednesday. Individual districts are next Saturday, May 11.
