A Beautiful Day To Save Lives
Student Council’s annual blood drive this past Friday was a huge success, as they donated over 100 bags of blood for those whose lives need saving. Combined with NHS’s blood drive last semester, the St. Dominic community is making a huge impact saving lives.
Many students, teachers and faculty were able to be a part of this amazing cause and had a wonderful experience—especially with the help of many friendly nurses.
“I really enjoyed it. My nursing assistant was so good. He made me feel happy. I felt amazing doing it and knowing that I am saving someone’s life makes me feel happy,” senior Audrey Wilson said.
The donation process is very simple. Before donating, the nurses will ask a series of questions to make sure the donor is in a good state of health. Then, they will prick the donor’s finger to test their iron levels. Finally, it’s time to donate! Lay back and relax in a medical chair, and squeeze a stress ball while filling up that life-saving bag. It’s really not that scary!
St. Dominic is so blessed to have this opportunity. A huge thank you to student council, all of our donors and to Mercy Hospital for their contribution for this amazing cause.
