Valentine Eats

The second most active day for restaurants—with customers spending around 7 million dollars on food—is Valentine’s Day. Couples enjoy going out for this special night and are willing to pay big money for a nice meal.

According to data, couples would rather choose international dishes for this special night, and eat their hearts out on fatty foods. Spanish, French, and Italian restaurants have the largest amount of customers on Valentine’s Day. Google Trends displays that Italian and French restaurants were the most increase searched restaurants since 2010.

The more romantic choice for Valentine’s Day is French and sushi restaurants. These places have a candlelight and make the date more personal. Having a sit down meal, is more intimate and some students here at Dominic agree.

“My boyfriend and I decided to go to Olive Garden for dinner because it is more romantic and more personal than going to eat fast food like Chick fiL a,” Kate Ryan said.

Although it is very popular to eat out, the fast food orders on Valentine’s Day increase as well. Many people who do not have a significant other tend to order food online as well. According to Grubhub, individuals order chocolates or desserts more than the couples do. For the single students at St. Dominic, it is no different.

“I love getting Imos delivered to my house, and inviting all my friends over to share,”Audrey Weber said.

Overall, restaurants and online food services enjoy Valentine’s Day as much as we do. With the large increase in profit, restaurants have one of the busiest days ahead of them.
