High Hopes for the Panic! Concert
As someone who goes to concerts often, there is a standard that has to be met when seeing a performance. Panic! at the Disco’s performance February 5 at the Enterprise Center definitely surpassed all those standards.
Before getting to the main event, there were two openers that complemented Panic! very well. The first opener, Betty Who, was high energy and showed off her amazing choreography alongside backup dancers. The Australian singer had great chemistry with not only her dancers, but with the crowd as well. The second opener, however, did not go over as well. Two Feet, while they had a great sound, could not be seen from where I was sitting. A box was sitting center stage and blocked the view of the band. On top of that, their set had to end early due to one of the two members not feeling well. While it was unfortunate, that didn’t stop the crowd from getting hyped when a timer began on the screens ten minutes before the show.
From lasers, to visuals, to pyrotechnics, the creative mind of Brendon Urie created a beautiful performance that satisfies any fan, new or old. With a setlist chock full of 28 of their songs, the excitement for each song is endless. The lights, along with the visuals displayed on the screens, illustrated a beautiful picture for every song, giving them their own three-minute stories. Between that and the special effects of lasers, fog and fire, the crowd was roaring the whole time.
While the effects were amazing, what really brought the show together was the talent Brendon Urie brought to the table. Not only is his vocal range out of this world, he is also well versed in drums, piano, guitar and his iconic backflips. His interaction with the crowd during “Death of a Bachelor” shows his appreciation for each of his fans and their want to just be near him. In addition to what fans have dubbed the “Death Walk,” he made time during the final song to sign art from fans onstage.
Overall, this concert was by far one of the best I had ever been to. The chemistry of Panic! on stage was beyond incredible and created a very memorable experience.
