Tigers Claw to Victory

The Clemson Tigers shocked the nation with an astounding 44-16 domination over the Alabama Crimson Tide on January 7. The command the Tigers exhibited was a clear sign of the future of Clemson’s program.

The Tigers were led by true freshman Trevor Lawrence, who threw for 347 yards and three touchdowns on 20/32 passing in the championship game. Justyn Ross showed up on Monday as well, receiving six passes for 153 yards with two touchdowns, with a long of a 74 touchdown pass that extended the Tigers lead to 21 at the time.

Clemson’s offensive efficiency was off the charts, with a 10-15 third down efficiency, as well as converting on their only fourth down in the game. Their offense wasn’t the only bright spot of the game however, as they proved with their stellar defense why they were the best team.

Their defense dominance was another key factor in this game. Intercepting two footballs, AJ Terrell brought one back for a pick six. They really showed their dominance on both side of the ball, holding Alabama to only 16 points. The Tigers also held Alabama to only 4-13 on third down conversions in the game. The championship night stellar finish was a great end to the Clemson Tigers’ season.

With the football season concluding on Monday, both teams look to recruit high level players in the offseason, as well as working hard to develop the team into a championship team. Both teams will be hoping to return to the championship next season to take home the trophy.
