Girls Soccer Wipes Away Warrenton

A ten-minute delay didn’t faze girls soccer this Tuesday, as they obliterated Warrenton 10-0 in their first round of districts play. It didn’t take much time for the offensive outburst to get started as senior Maddie Ballard scored just 40 seconds into the match.

“I was able to get a good read and put it in the back of the net. It was a good way to start the game, and I think it really got the rest of the girls going,” said Ballard.

Senior Madeline Weston scored in the sixth minute to make it 2-0, then again in the ninth minute to put Dominic up 3-0. Sophomore Grace Osvath added another tally in the 28th minute to put the game out of reach.

From there, five different players scored for the Crusaders en route to a victory.

“It was a great team effort. We had a balanced attack on both sides of the ball and I’m looking forward to see what these girls can bring to the next match,” said Coach Greg Koeller.

The girls will look to continue their journey towards the Class 3 State Tournament on May 18, when they take on Liberty in the second round Friday.
