Letter from the Editor

I always told myself that being a senior isn’t special. I mean, it happens to everyone. When May rolls around, millions of high schoolers take their last walk through hallowed halls. But this time, it’s me.

Overall, I want to say thank you to St. Dominic. You don’t find a fantastic place to gain a Catholic education behind every Super 8 Motel.

Moreover, I want to thank everyone who read the paper these past three years. Seeing people actually read the paper makes me so happy. I have gotten a fair share of, “no one ever reads the paper Kaitlyn, why do you put so much time into it?” Well, simply because I love it.

We get to cover real news topics from time to time, including shootings, court cases or presidential elections (my favorite)! Sometimes, crazy ideas like a school water fountain ranking or a feature on the Alex’s of the senior class sneak by. I feel blessed to have been a part of it all.

Not to mention, watching the first broadcast is one of my favorite pastimes. Here is how horrible it was: https://youtu.be/qDn0YEEq930. I say we have come quite a ways. It may be something you are forced to watch during empower hour, but it is something I look forward to being in every week.

On another note, I want to thank all my teachers. Here is every single teacher who I have had a class with since freshman year. I want to thank: Mr. Brotherton, Mr. Cella, Mr. Zuroweste, Mr. Strecker, Mrs. Goins, Mr. Margadonna, Mrs. Roberts, Mr. Matthews, Mr. Asher, Mrs. Hayes, Mr. Markway, Mr. Schlenke, Mr. Doerr, Mr. Koeller, Mr. Winkelmann, Mr. Moore, Mrs. Galvan, Mrs. Savant, Mr. Hancock, Dr. Matusiak, Mrs. Findley, and most of all, Mr. Duncan. From the bottom of my heart, I thank each and everyone of you for the lessons I learned inside and outside of your classes. Without your sacrifice to catholic education and passion for teaching, I would not be the person I am today.

So yeah, I am walking at graduation next week. I wouldn’t even classify it as an ending. Life has just begun.
